Fighting or Fleeing

Words are containers of faith or fear. They are very powerful, so much so it will steer your life in what ever direction you speak. Words can build up or tear down and can cause us to stay and fight or take flight. These words can either come out of your mouth or someone else's, it does not really matter. Words carry so much power that it can cause you to run away and hide.

Such was the case of Elijah. In 1 Kings !9. after he had slaughtered the prophets of Baal, Jezebel sent him a message to tell him she was going to kill him. Elijah was a constant threat, he was always predicting gloom and as long as he was alive she could not do all the wicked things she wanted to do. So Elijah became afraid and he took flight, her ran off and prematurely aborted his mission after his life was threatened. He was so driven by fear that he wanted to die. The truth is Elijah did not really want to die, because if he did he would have remained so that Jezebel could kill him.

God has started a work in you but because of fear, discouragement and intimidation, you ran off and abandoned your assignment, you left the ministry God placed you in, it was not yet your time to leave. You moved away from divine placement to go to a place where God did not sanction and you keep moving because you are out of the will of God. When you are walking out of the will of God you are walking in rebellion, you are walking disorderly.

Satan sends threats to derail the purposes of God in your life, so you have to know the voice of God, you have to try the spirits to know where the words are coming from. That was not the voice of God Elijah heard, this great prophet who had just destroyed the prophets of Baal was now running for his life. He began to walk in the flesh, he deserted the people that God had called him to work with, the people that he was supposed to impart ministry into.

Elijah ran and hid, what he actually was doing was withdrawing himself from public ministry/ He was saying I am finished with ministry all because he was threatened. Like Elijah, you have also withdrawn from what God has begun to do in your life, but because of God's graciousness he is calling you back the same way he called Elijah back because his assignment was not yet complete and neither is yours. Elijah was to go back and anoint his successor and prepare him to take over. If he was not willing to continue to lead God was going to anoint someone else. God always has a remnant.

When Elijah told the Lord to take his life, he set his future in motion he prophesied his departure. Proverbs 18:21 says, " Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof and Proverbs 13:3 says, " He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life, but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. When we are fear driven we must not allow ourselves to come to a place were we will say things that are going to set our future in motion.

Words have started all kinds of battles, have separated the best of friends and have caused many marriages to break up. It was words that caused Eve to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit, and also caused Adam to partake and bring a curse into this world, words are powerful and can be used for good or evil, they can cause blessings or curses. It is our enemy Satan that causes man to rise up against each other by the power of words to bring destruction.

Perhaps like Elijah, right now you are in hiding, you are discouraged and you feel like giving up, you have had enough. But the truth of the matter is that you have not finished your assignment. Rise up from your stooping position, come out of your discouragement, there is a great work ahead of you.
Stop pitying yourself and ask God to forgive you and let him direct you.

You have not been called to be fear driven but to be faith driven.
We would like to pray for you, please use the form below to leave your request. You are what the Word says you are. You can do what the Word says you can do. You can have what the Word says you can have. Begin to believe that. Begin to say it out loud in faith

Repentance is a God given opportunity to enter into the blessings of the Lord and escape from the oppression of the enemy.
If you haven't ask Jesus into your heart as Savior and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, it is as simple as following these steps:

1) ADMIT YOU HAVE SINNED. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

2) BELIEVE IN JESUS. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

3) CONFESS AND LEAVE YOUR SIN. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)
