Earthquakes in our Lives

22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. 23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: 24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. 34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. (Acts 16:22-34)
Paul and Silas were in the inner parts of the prison singing and praising God, despite the fact that they were stripped, beaten and feet placed in stocks. Praise causes the glory of God to manifest in your life.

An earthquake came and shook the foundations of the prison. The doors opened and the chains fell off the prisoners. You would think that the prisoners would leave but God had a different plan.God wanted to get to the jailer.

Earthquakes bring destruction and change. Sometimes God needs to allow earthquakes to destroy somethings in our lives and bring change in the midst of it all. God allows circumstances and situations in our lives inorder that He may get our attention, so that He can get through to us. He also at times need to shake our foundations so that we can know where we stand in Christ.

God knows where we are because He is all knowing but He wants us to recognise where we are. God had a miracle in the earthquake, salvation the greatest miracle ever.God has a purpose for every life and He will use extraordinary means to carry out His plan.

Right now you feel like you are in a prison, locked up and no way out. You feel like you are in prison in your mind, in a prison of sickness and disease. Perhaps your foundations are being shaken, maybe there is an earthquake right now in your life, you don't realize it but it has come to bring life into a spiritually dead situation. What ever the situation God wants to break you out of bondage and break you into a new life. Allow God to break in so that He can set you free.
Open your mouth and your heart and do what God has created you to do. Praise Him, It will start a revival inside of you.

You are what the Word says you are. You can do what the Word says you can do. You can have what the Word says you can have. Begin to believe that. Begin to say it out loud in faith

No comments:

Repentance is a God given opportunity to enter into the blessings of the Lord and escape from the oppression of the enemy.
If you haven't ask Jesus into your heart as Savior and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, it is as simple as following these steps:

1) ADMIT YOU HAVE SINNED. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

2) BELIEVE IN JESUS. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

3) CONFESS AND LEAVE YOUR SIN. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

My photo
A Christian who loves to write about christian living, spiritual health and self improvement. I pray daily that the love and grace of God will be poured out through my life to others, so that those who are in bondage can be delivered and the captives set free. I remind myself daily that whether or not I have "witnessed" I am still a witness in everything I do.
