Good News To The Poor

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, to has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Luke 4:18
What is the good news that the poor need to hear? "God wants you to be poor and suffer. You shouldn't want!" That sounds like bad news to me. The good news to the poor is, "You don't need to be poor anymore." Jesus was not only referring to those who are poor in the temporal things of this world. A poor person is a person who lacks the basic necessities of life. Those necessities can be temporal, they can be psychological, mental, physical or spiritual. The good news to the poor, if you are lacking the good things that God intends you to have,the truth is "You don't have to be poor anymore."
"The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me to heal the brokenhearted." Who are the brokenhearted? Those who have lost their dreams and goals. You once had plenty of spirit and fire in you but things went wrong and you were broken. Your goals and dreams were broken and taken away, your life has been destroyed and you have nothing to live for anymore. You need the gospel. You need the good news. The good news is, "Jesus has made the way for you to break free. Jesus has come to give you a new goal and a new reason for living."
"The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me ... to preach deliverance to the captives." Who are the captives? Those who are bound and are prisoners. You are in bondage. What are you in bondage to? You are in bondage to sin, to sickness, to bad habits, to drugs, alcohol and tobacco. You are in bondage to demons. You are in bondage to anything that controls you and prevents you from being free to do what you want to do and what God wants you to do. The good news is you do not have to be in bondage. The good news is Jesus came to set the captives free. The good news is you can be free now!
Jesus came to preach the gospel to the blind. Who are the blind? They are not only the people that cannot physically see. They are those who have become blinded by false religion, by the psychology and teachings of this world. They are blinded by the World System to prevent them from seeing the truth of what they have in Christ and what is available in Christ. The good news is the truth has arrived. The good news is God wants to reveal Himself to you and He wants to show you the truth.
Jesus said, "I have come to the preach the gospel to the bruised." You know something about a bruise. It is a kind of an internal bleeding isn't it? It is one thing to have a cut, the blood comes out and it is open and you can heal the wound, but a bruise is a wound, a sore that is inside that is festering and is painful. It cannot be touched.
Your life have been bruised and battered. Pressed down, and pushed down. You have had difficulties and problems and bad experiences in life and have entered into spiritual prisons. You feel insecure, bound and suffering and are hurting. The good news is you can be set free. The good news is you can break out of that. The good news is you do not have to go to a doctor for years and hope that he might be able to solve the problem for you. The good news is Jesus can set you free right now.

He has not forgotten you

Job 23:10, He knows the way that I take and when he has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Romans 8:28 decrees, all things work together for good to those that love God and to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Those are promises He has given us to hold on to in this walk. You may feel down and like God has forgotten you. Just begin to worship and praise Him. Take your mind off of things for a while and concentrate on him. He will build you up and give you the strength to move on.
The Lord's hand is not too short that it cannot reach you. Neither is His power too weak that it cannot affect you. The Lord planned your life before you began it. He has taken into consideration all of your failures and weaknesses. And guess what? He still chose you. He loves you more than words can ever express. His love covers you.
He wants you to draw closer without the worry of where you are in your walk. You don't have to concentrate on getting to the mark the fastest. You don't have to press to get it all right. He loves it when you just rest in His arms and let Him lead you and control the pace.
