A Time to Mourn

Our Daily Devotional:

A Time to Mourn

Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 KJV: To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

We do not like pain, or confrontation. We avoid difficult times, and situations. Most Christians, just like non-Christians, seek to make each day as carefree, comfortable, and pleasing as possible. The writer of Ecclesiastes tells us, "...there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." There is a time to laugh, and to dance, and to love. There is a time to enjoy, and with that we are content. But is there also a time to mourn, or be solemn, or fight against ungodliness in the world and within our own lives? Is there a time to face pain so that God can use it to better us; or to allow confrontation for the resolution God would bring? Throughout scripture, it is clear that there is a need to mourn over sin and what it has done; and to weep for a godless world. May it be that each of us seeks God in every season--that we will weep when it is time to weep, and mourn when it is time to mourn, and fast and pray for the salvation of a people living in darkness.

I have always loved those verses in Ecclesiastes. I have a couple posts on it over at my blog, in fact. There is certainly a time to mourn. In fact, it is IMPORTANT, and presented throughout scripture in many ways. I especially like that you brought up fasting, too. Mourning leads to fasting, and then you have some powerful prayers that get a hold of God!

There is always a time and God's plan and time is perfect, may we have His peace and continue to trust Him for whatever the time calls for

God bless you gi :)

Repentance is a God given opportunity to enter into the blessings of the Lord and escape from the oppression of the enemy.
If you haven't ask Jesus into your heart as Savior and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, it is as simple as following these steps:

1) ADMIT YOU HAVE SINNED. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

2) BELIEVE IN JESUS. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

3) CONFESS AND LEAVE YOUR SIN. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

A Christian who loves to write about christian living, spiritual health and self improvement. I pray daily that the love and grace of God will be poured out through my life to others, so that those who are in bondage can be delivered and the captives set free. I remind myself daily that whether or not I have "witnessed" I am still a witness in everything I do.
